ICON partners with BH Live to deliver Level 5 Management and Leadership Programme

Sport and leisure industry training provider ICON Training has been selected by the south coast’s leading operator of leisure and event venues, BH Live, to deliver the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship programme in Management and Leadership, to train and develop existing senior managers and to help develop future managers. The 18-month programme will commence in March with 25 learners.

BH Live is a social enterprise delivering health and wellbeing activities, hospitality, and cultural and business event services for more than three million visitors per year and has an annual turnover of over £36 million.

Rich Holmden, Operations and Funding Lead, ICON Training says: “The team and I have worked closely alongside BH Live, to develop a programme that meets the specific needs of their organisation both now and for the future. There are a limited number of providers in our sector offering Level 5 qualifications and above, which has created a skills gap when it comes to strategic leadership. As a company, we are committed to changing this and pushing both standards and expectations, across the industry.”

The programme is made up of an NVQ, Employment Rights and Responsibilities and a Technical Certificate, which can be extended into a larger “extended diploma” giving increased scope for both the learner and the employer. Units taught include Contributing to the Development of a Strategic Plan and Managing Strategic Change.  Delivery will be made up of classroom teaching, face to face coaching, e-portfolio building, and use of the CMI Management Direct e-Learning system.

Andy Reed, OBE, ICON Ambassador, former MP, Trustee and Interim Chair of CIMSPA, and respected industry leader, will head up the team of tutors who will deliver the programme: “When BH Live first approached us they already had a clear vision of what they were looking for, where the skills gaps were and what needed to happen to fill them.
