You must be at least 17 years of age to enrol onto the course and you must be holders of the ASA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Aquatics (QCF) or equivalent, and have experience teaching in an aquatic environment.
ASA Level 2 Award in Coaching Aquatics Pre-fundamentals (QCF)
As the progression on from Level 2, this qualification will provide you with the specialist knowledge, skills and techniques of teaching babies and toddlers aged 0-5 years alongside their parents/carers in the water. It will enable you to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate theory and practical aquatic sessions in an adult and child learn-to-swim environment.
Achievement of this qualification will provide you with:
A qualification which is recognised as the minimum standard in the swimming and leisure industry, enabling you to have employment as an adult and child swimming teacher.
The course is delivered via a mixture of classroom activities, simulated learning opportunities, lots of practical poolside based learning sessions and practical teaching with live adult and child lessons.
Once you have successfully achieved this qualification, you are eligible to apply for roles as an adult and child teacher through employment or volunteering opportunities. Working with other aquatics teachers will give you great experience and learning to develop and flourish in your role.
